Zelenogradsk district municipality is located in north-west part of Kaliningrad region, washed by Baltic sea, Kaliningrad and Curonian lagoons. The population of the district is 32.2 thousand people; total area is 201649 hectares.

Favorable geographic position plays important role in development of municipality. Distance from Zelenogradsk to Kaliningrad is 30 km, there is a international and local airports in 15 km from Zelenogradsk. Also there is a developed transport system which is presented by: highway “Primorskoe kolyco”; 84 km of railway lines; 346 km. of regional roads; 16 bus routes.

There are following perspective areas in terms of investment on the Zelenogradsk seaside: tourism, recreation, balneology, sports and entertainment. There are unique nature resources in the district for the development of recreation sphere: sea, soft sea climate, sand beaches, woods, picturesque landscapes, lakes, mineral water, therapeutic muds, National park “Curonian curve”.

Affinity to regional center Kaliningrad, developed infrastructure (wide gas-supply system, developed transport infrastructure) determine attractiveness of the Zelenogradsk district for industry development (in year 2010 production output was 1,6 billion Rub.)

Along with the aforementioned there is great possibilities of land use for agriculture. Nowadays there are 18 agricultural manufacturers in Zelenogradsk district which operate in wheat, rape cultivating and pig- and cattle breeding.
